Saving...
October 11, 1949 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: Have some spare time this morning so will try and write a bit while the sun shines. Our lights have been acting up the last couple of evenings and we had used up all of our candles and neglected to get anymore at supply. Yesterday I got four letters from you so you see my back mail is coming in very well now. The ones I got yesterday were quite recent however, from the twenty third to the twenty eighth and had the letters from Francis, Rich Stolle & Ruth Berg in them as well as a bunch of clippings including the Little Brown Church one. My gosh, Mom, if you want those stamps of Charly [Surales?] for your collection, get them & I'll pay for them. I'd like for you to. I've looked for things to buy over here to send you folks but either I'm a very poor shopper or havent been the right places but what I've seen has been trash. I've only had a chance once tho when I was in Naples, perhaps Ill get another pass soon. Surely glad to hear the corn on my place is good and out of danger of frost, it always gives a fellow a secure feeling to know there is feed for the winter. I'm glad Bill had corn on the outside land he rented for the more stock on the place the better for it. Hope the cattle market stays up and our young cattle continue to do well. It would be nice if Uncle Raymonds could drive up when Milan is at home. Had a letter from him (Raymond) a few days ago. I wish he was just starting his training instead of finishing up. He seems awfully young but when I compare him to our pilots I guess he's as old as the majority of them.
