Saving...
October 30, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: We've been cleaning up our house, took down the stove pipe cleaned the soot out cleaned out the stove, built a clothes rack and washed things up in general. Didn't get to the dedication exercises for the new chapel yesterday, had some work on my ship but got a program which I'll stick in this note. Guess they had a big turn out and quite a nice affair. Today we were issued sweaters and overshoes so we should keep warm and dry this winter. I was rummaging around in my stuff a while ago and found my low cut shoes which I hadn't worn since I went to Naples, of course they needed cleaning up & shinning so I did that but don't know when they will be worn again. Even cleaned and oiled my gun so you see how thorough my clean up campaign has been. Last evening about bed time my friend Bill
