Saving...
November 5, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: Another nice fall day fairly warm and the sun is shining bright. Our clothes line is full of stuff being aired and its a good day for it for there is a breeze blowing. We have lots of company in our shack today three dogs of vaious sizes and descriptions and all hungry guess they'll leave if we don't feed them tho, this country is overrun with dogs, poor judgement on the dogs part too. Got your good letter written the twenty fifth, last night. No I haven't seen any of the Red Cross wagons sponsored by your sisterhood, in fact I've only seen one but I've only been here since spring you know. The Red Cross is more in big towns it seems. I've been reading quite a funny story "Buried Alive" it was made into a movie "Holy Matrimony" with Monte Wooley and Gracie Fields which I saw while I was still in the states. You should see it if you haven't already. My gosh fifteen Christmas packages seems like an awful lot, I'm sure I don't deserve all that. Wonder too how long they will take to get here. I'm glad to hear there is licorice in some of them because that's one thing. Don't know what I'll get to send home I would like to find something over here but I'm doubtful. Go ahead and buy the stamps you want from Charley I'm afraid I won't be able to get any Italian stamps like you mentioned. I'll bet Pop is pleased to have a good stock of lumber again. I expect business is good if the material is available. Have they kind of let up on building
