Saving...
November 9, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Well our election is over and I guess the old U.S. will keep right on running for another four years and then we can try again. I was really a little disappointed in the way things went but if that's what the mostest wants that's the way it will be. If I get time tonight I will write to Adeline gosh I hate to under the circumstances. Just don't know what I can say to ease their loss nor help but I'll try. This morning I had a chance to go to a near by base where some of my old army friends are stationed. I wasn't too busy and it's only a short distance so I went. Found about ten fellows I had known and it was certainly good to see them. It was a year to the day since I saw them last. There are lots of our old unit around here if I just had the time and opportunity to look them up. Got a letter from Bob last night and he is now in France, how that boy does get around. Says its cold there, not nearly so pleasant as his last location here. Don't think he'd find it quite so nice here as it was however. Also got two letters from you and one from Mrs. Lynch. There have been lots of Christmas packages come thru already. Bill got three last night and an other boy in our tent has received a couple, will really be fed and cared for from now on. I missed laundry day this week so I'll have to do my own, it isn't so bad for I'll let my coveralls go until next week and send them then. We received a presidential citation yesterday a big ceremony, general on the field, troops marching in
