Saving...
November 14, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: This is a cold dreary afternoon, raining intermittently, so I'm not busy. Our stove is going and we're very comfortable inside our shanty. It's good to have a day like this to write letters, wash clothes etc. Took a bath & cleaned up this morning and got my laundry ready to go and now I hope to knock out a few letters. Your V-mail letter came three days after the air mail one written the same day. It is unpredictable however which one will be the quickest but either kind I'm glad to get. I'm glad you got some new things poor Tillie will be out of luck if you can buy clothes at any shop. Don't lose so much you'll have to start buying children's sizes like Mrs. Carr. Didn't know we had a teacher at home by the name of Graham. We made a bath tub yesterday out of a barrel, works pretty well but a bit cramped as you might imagine. Think poor Bill may even have a worse time than I do with his long legs. Sold our motorcycle today so don't worry about it any more. There were three of us who had a share in it. Was more just to tinker with than anything else and we didn't have much time for that. It must have been warm the first of this month back home don't know as I ever remember it being so hot for the time of year but perhaps. That's always the way a fellow never notices and every year seems more unusual. Early snow, hottest day (itt?) That picture with Ralph & me also has John Booth in it, he has been on my crew for a long time ever since I was in Tucson. He comes from Connecticut
