Saving...
August 9, 1944 Italy Dear Sis, King & Bobby: Got your letter yesterday so will answer this evening while I have a little time. I appreciate getting the Des Moines service edition as I enjoy it very much. thanks a lot. I was glad to get news of Bud I have wondered so many times about him, next time you write let me have his address and I'll write to him again. How I wish this darn thing would get over with and there wouldnt need to be all this worry and heart aches. Just keep your chin up Sis, a guy as well as Red has someone watching over him and taking his part all the time. He's a rugged character too and knows how to look out for himself. Expect old Iowa is plenty hot, it usually is this time of year anyhow. We're having it hot too with lots of dust and hot winds. I'm working without a shirt and am almost black to my waist, should be absorbing a lot of vitamines from the suns rays with all that area exposed. Just came off a three day pass the first I've ever had since I've been in the army. A couple of weeks ago I got a letter from Bob saying he was in Italy but I couldnt find out where, did know his approximate location however so I took a chance. I left my field by plane and landed in naples, got on a plane as soon as I reached there and contacted him at once. We spent the three days together and had a grand visit, he looks fine, is the heaviest I've ever seen him we visited Pompeii and other points of interest around the town. It's a pretty town as these Italian towns go
