Saving...
August 15, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: Another month half gone, dont know how it slips away so fast, when each day seems to drag so but I guess thats the way with everything even a job looks big when you look forward to it but looking back after it is done it doesnt seem like so much. I got my licorice package yesterday the one with those little round button kind which is my favorite candy. Thanks it surely tasted good. Also got two letters one written the seventh (air mail) thats sure good time and the other (V mail) written the third. I'm glad you got to see Shirl & his family or part of it rather bet it was quite a surprise visit. It's good to hear that the corn is making up for lost time and looks good in general. Also am glad to hear everything at my place is doing well except the weeds. It seems funny Bills brother out near [Pliggs?] keeps everything as neat as a pin and not a weed in sight, but I guess if he continues to do well with the field work and cattle and hogs that is all I can ask. I think dad is very wise to get his partnership farms straightened up. There is no use having to look after everyone elses affairs and his own too thats too much grief and worry. Hope old Berg can pay off on that Decorah place, it always has been more or less a nuisance and is too far away from home. Maybe I'd better watch out or he wont take care of mine for me.
