Saving...
August 26, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: I'm setting out in front of my tent on my new chair with my feet propped up, solid comfort I tell you. The bomb fins come shipped in metal crates which make good seats. One of the fellows welded some together for me so it has a sloping back and everything. Only wrote this much last night when Bill Barron came along going to the show. I hadnt seen a movie since the fore part of June so I went, it was supposed to be good. "Gaslight" with Chas Boyer & Ingrid Bergman. the acting was fine but I wasnt too keen for the movie. The special service puts on the shows twice a week I think. have a small projector and screen set on the side of a hill. It always breaks down in the most exciting parts and every three reels it must stop and be rewound but Im glad we have it. Had a V-mail from you and one from Adeline yesterday. glad to get both. They were at Clear Lake for a couple of weeks and King & Bobby were both sunburned. Red is in England and has a couple of medals. he was in every battle on the Peninsula so must have seen a lot of action. Glad you got Bobs letter telling about us seeing each other. I wrote two but mine had to be censored and has farther to go so I expect you'll have it soon. Should like to see Ann [Gaplerud?] & Elizabeth Warren but dont guess I'll have a chance. Dont know where they are nor have their address. So Pop has a carload of shingles. I wish I was there to help unload them. The exercise would do me good and i really think I'd enjoy it. Would unload a great many if that would mean being at home. Hope they are for
