Saving...
cooler. Glad to get all the news of the fair. did you enjoy the riders? I saw them a couple of times in Chicago and I thought they had a good act. This makes the third fair Ive missed since I got in the army but dont think I'll be in for another. Im not planning that far ahead anyhow. It's beginning to get dark so will have to go inside the tent and hunt up a light. Last night one of the fellows wrote a letter setting on our [illegible] [tractor?] about midnight using only moonlight, he said it was plenty light but I rather imagine that was stretching it just a bit. You mentioned that Iowa picture and guessed the truth, I was busy and didnt get in it, but I dont much care. Only a few fellows I know got in it so I wasnt so much enthused. I dont go for those things much anyhow. I cant get over how fast some of my letters reach you. they certainly cant waste anytime to get from here to Iowa in five days. The air mail I got from you today was postmarked the twenty sixth so that isnt bad time either. I wonder if the Hays are going to move it would be hard to find a good renter now I suppose but I guess most everything works out. There is always a lot of idle gossip it seems and I wont think about it until I hear something definite. Must stop and service my ship -- Love Johnny
