Saving...
Sept. 9, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: We got a welcome relief from our hot weather this afternoon, had a hard shower which cleared the dust and cooled off the atmosphere in general. Wet things up in our tent too before we got the sides rolled down but I was lucky my bed was in the dry corner. Got a letter from Mae Wetherbee yesterday and the one from you with Brad's in it, there were a couple of snap shots enclosed one of the baby and one of Brad & his wife that were very good. Today I got two from you, a V-mail and an airmail so the mail situation looks brighter. Read today of the demobilization plan for the army when the war is over didnt sound too encouraging for the air forces. Seems as tho they will be one of the last to get out and the fellows with dependents & small children first. Maybe I'll get out on old age before long being that this is a young mans army. We had cokes today two bottles apiece which tasted good. The cokes over here come in clear glass bottles instead of the pale green ones that always seemed to me a trade mark of the product. Have they started that in the states too or is that just what comes overseas. Havent heard from Bob since I saw him I wonder if he has been moved or what. Guess I should write to him but he said he would write me next and notify me of any change of address. I hope he has stayed in the same place for he had a nice location and his surroundings were pleasant.
