Saving...
Sept 25, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom & Grandmother: I have a new writing board fixed up tonight but it doesn't seem to help me think of any thing to write about. Found a piece of plywood and sanded it down, doesn't work so hot tho for its too big to hold on my lap, when I get a level floor maybe I'll make a set of folding legs to set it on. Sept 27, 1944 Only got that much written the other night much to do today even went to a U.S.O. show this afternoon which was fine, the best one I've ever seen. One girl in it was from Fowler, Indiana I expect some of our Hoosier relatives know her no bigger than that town is. I've got a black eye and a couple of small cuts aound it, bumped into a board sticking out from a little shelter we were building for our tools & junk. Doesn't amount to much didn't even make my eye red, be all well in a couple of days. Received a letter from you mailed the seventh today and also got my ballot which was mailed the nineteenth that really made good time. I was very glad to get it and while it may not do me any good I'll have the personal satisfaction of voting for whom I want. There are far more G.I.'s voting than I thought there would be and a good number of them will vote my way I'm sure. Boy it's cool here tonight my wool sweatshirt feels fine and I'm going to be under about three blankets
