For Toffy One pound of Treacle, 1/2 lb Sugar, Butter the size of a Walnut, & a little Lemon juice - Boil 3/4 of an hour or longer if required. Put it in Tins well-buttered. (Try it first) Mrs Crowfoot. Soda Cake 1 lb of Flour, 1/4 lb Moist sugar, 1/2 lb of Butter, 3/4 lbs of Currants, 1 Egg, tea-spoonful of Tartaric Acid, 1 tea spoonful of Carbonate of Soda, 1/2 pint of cold Milk, the Egg and Milk to be added just before going to the Oven. Mince Meat. 2 lbs of Beef, 3 lbs of beef suet, 2 lbs of raisins, 3 lbs of Currants, 1/4 oz of cinnamon, 2 Nutmegs, 1/4 oz ground cloves, 1 lb of Moist sugar, 2 lbs of apples and a little salt.
