an ounce of mace, a nutmeg put in pieces and some whol peper. To clean Plate 1 ounce of Hartshorn, to three quarts of water, put it on the Fire, to boil, with two pieces of flannell, half a yd square, let it boil three hours frequently stirring it, when it has boiled the time take the flannel out, without wringing, and hang it up, when it is dry, [shake?] it, and then you may use it. To Dye Black 1 pennyworth of nut Galls pounded fine ditto of Logwood ditto of Verdegrease, ditto of Fustick, those put down to boil in three quarts of water, and at the same your lace which must boil till it is a good Brown, then the lace taken up and cooled, then add to the above a halfpenny worth of Copsess, then put in your lace, and let it boil slowly till it is a good Black when
