december 5 1944 Italy Dear Dad and Mom, This has been a windy, blustery day but not cold. Haven’t been so very busy, just some odd jobs and tinkering around. One of my old friends caught a ride over here and a few hours with me. I was very glad to see him, we are quite eluse together but it seems we don’t have transportation or time to visit very often. He is one of the boys from my old outfit. Got the pictures back and will send them on to you. I’m enclosing seven snaps. The other one of the films is good but I don’t think it would go thru. They are taken at Pompeii showing some of the ruins and one at Mt. Vesuvius & I guess you’ll recognize the two Grahams & Bill. Poor Bill is too tall, lost his head in two of them. We had persimmons for dinner today, I guess mine wasn’t ready I guess for it was sure puckery. That’s the first one I ever tasted and its okay with me if it’s the last. They are
