December 8, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Christmas has really moved in on me the past two days. I've had six packages. One from you with the date cookies in it gosh they are good, who canned them up for you? they were almost as tho I'd sneaked them off the cookie sheet. Thanks an awful lot. Got a big can of shelled home grown pop corn from Uncle Raymond, a can of mixed nuts from Adeline, a box of cookies from Jim & Irma those real fancy ones, but they were smashed to crumbs, got five cans of pop corn from Grandma not Jolly time but some other trade name on it. Tonight I got a big can of nuts from the Clint Humphrey surely was kind of them to remember me. The pralines in your box tasted good too, reminded me of New Orleans. I'm glad to have the Kleenex too, its mighty handy. It's windy & blustery tonight our tent roof pops and tugs like it would like to fly away but I think it is anchored securely.
