December 14, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: It's gray & gloomy here today regular fall weather but not so very cold. Grass is still green and the wheat looks nice. Gave another pint of blood this morning, don't know how long it's been since I did last but the supply seemed to be right up to the full mark. So far it's never so much as made me dizzy but some day I may get fooled. I guess it only takes a few hours to replenish what they take. Had some mail night before last the first for several days, two v-mails from you. Haven't had any more packages for a few days, think I must have received all of them for I've sure been fortunate. Signed up for a fifty dollar bond to be taken out of this months pay they are making a special drive to complete the sixth bond drive. Haven't had any taken out for several months since they changed the allot-
