Saving...
December 23, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Just quit work for its cold & gloomy and spitting rain. Didn't have anything that just had to be done so thought I wouldn't run the risk of taking cold. So far I've been very lucky and have had only an occasional sniffle and its never settled into my chest. From reports I guess we are to have turkey again for Christmas so we are very lucky. Hope you folks have a good one this year or at least a good turkey dinner someplace. The boys are hauling more gravel into our area to try and get us out of the mud sure takes a lot to make roads and paths around but will be much better when completed. There are several Christmas trees around our outfit the service club has one and there is even a lighted one at the chapel which is very pretty. Our new shower is now operational and a grand success. The water heaters work fine and the floor even slopes to the drain so everything is okay. No excuse to go dirty now, if before. Maybe our yellow tub will go into discard now.
