Saving...
December 27, 1944 Italy Dear Dad and Mom; Will write a bit before the lights go out. These short days they go off early for the put-put. is started earlier and consequently goes off sooner. Shouldn't take long for there seems nothing to write. Got some mail tonight three cards from Mrs. H. Wright, Lorenz Shotz, Maurice Sabre and two letters from you v-mail sent the thirteenth and an air mail the eighteenth. Last night I got a card from the Muncies and a v-mail from you sent the eighth. I'm glad Dave is home and out of the army I know at last one other guy who would like that too. Mrs. Lynch wrote me in her last letter that he expected to be released but they hadn't told anyone. In tonights Stars and Stripes I read of your cold spell, listed Mason City and Iowa City as cold spots so know what it must have been at home. I'll inclose a clipping just to show you how well we keep posted . This is awfully short I know but will try and write tomorrow. Love Johnny
