Saving...
December 29, 1944 Italy Dear Dad + Mom: Golly you folks must be having winter in earnest back home, got a letter last night written the third and even then you were having ice and sleet. Now with this last cold snap you had its been a real winter already. Just got my mail, one of the other fellows brought it down for me. Had a letter from you, two pages of v-mail from Jim the first in long hand then he got disgusted and typed the other one. Two cards, one from Mrs. Charley Holmes and the other from the [illegible] both with a nice note in them. Got quite a kick out of Harleys remarks about Tonys recent accident, it was a shame about the occupants of the other car tho. That sounds like a crazy idea to change fifty six highway around the way you said they were going to, tho that section of road always was rough, doesnt get away from any railway crossings and will mean a couple of new bridges. Glad to hear the Kahls are doing so well with the chickens this year, wish my folks could do as well. But if other things go well I dont guess we can kick any. Maybe
