January 10, 1945 Dear Dad & Mom: This is a stinker of a day, cant work so I'll write a few letters or at least my intentions are good how far I'll get remains to be seen. There is a wet snow falling, flakes as big as feathers but it isn't so cold, glad to be inside tho for its miserable. Just came from retrieving my hat it blew off this noon when I was going to chow and I couldn't get the truck to stop. Looks as tho several trucks had run over it but when it dries out and goes thru the laundry it will be as good as ever. Should dig out my stocking cap or toboggan as Duke Hays used to call it. Had a letter from Bob which was written the twenty ninth and he says he got back to the states before Christmas. Expect he's told you all about his transfer. I'm glad he can have Vivian & Dick with him and hope he stays there for the duration. He said his work was much more to his liking and would be almost like general practice which he'd rather gotten away from the past couple of years. There is a U.S.O. show at the base this afternoon but don't guess I'll go. Perhaps it will be put off anyhow and if they do have it the
