Saving...
January 21, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: We have a caller tonight, Salvo has come down and apparently is going to spend the evening, we've put her out several times but she wants right back in again. She's a smart little dog, shows quite a lot of spaniel and loves to get in the water. I think she's trying to wean her nine pups for they are about two months old and are getting big. Thought this morning we were going to have a bit of a storm, the wind blew quite hard for a spell but later quieted down and was a pleasant day. Did go out and restake our tent down and tighten the corners so it is well anchored to the stone wall and should take a real gale to blow it away. Got two V-mails from you in tonights mail written the third and fourth. Was very glad as always to get them. It's surprising you got that paper so quickly rather expected it to be some time before it got there. I'm glad to hear grandma's eyes are better. I couldn't make out her last letter at all. Have to attend a periodic chemical warfare school and lecture tomorrow morning. They have those things every so often, I guess it does
