Saving...
January 27, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Just came from breakfast but have a little time so I'd better write some. In the last two days I've had six letters from you some old and one sent the fifteenth so I've fared well. There were a bunch of belated Christmas packages in last night but I wasn't one of the lucky ones. So Pap had a birthday cake at Rotary it was nice of them to remember it. I'm glad my greeting got there on time & wish I might have been there to help celebrate. Wish I could spend my own birthday at home this year and all the rest of them to come. It's a blessing Jim Smale passed away he's been miserable for a long time and certainly was a care for Mrs. Smale. Hope she can rent the farm satisfactorily. I was amused at Lula Blunts latest falling out, boy I'll bet the sparks flew when those two tangled. I don't see why they don't move into town and let the renters live there alone. Got the letter with the one from Kings friend in it, how I hope there can be some truth in his hunch and that he's not just trying to make his folks feel better. Of course there is always a chance have they ever had a second notice or any further
