Saving...
January 24, 1945 Dear Dad & Mom: Haven't been too busy today found time to shave and clean up this afternoon and now I'll try and write a bit before I go to chow, didn't go this noon for it wasn't going to be much and now I really have an appetite. In your last letter I received you spoke of Allen Ballard I'd like to see him but don't have any idea where he is. Overhauled my bed this afternoon too, the canvas was developing a decided sag and needed tightening can't understand why my light weight would cause it to stretch can you? We're going to put up another set of clothes line poles so we can air blankets, when we have a good day every one wants theirs out and there isn't room. Only got this much done before supper and we had a meeting afterward so I'll try again. No mail for me tonight but there didn't seem to be much anyhow. A couple of the fellows are playing Rook in the tent I hadn't seen or heard of that game since I was a kid but they seem to be enjoying it. Don't have any pinnochle players in our bunch so I haven't played for a long time. Wish I could get the letter writing urge for I sure do (illegible) a slug of them. Guess this is all for tonight Love Johnny
