Saving...
January 19, 1945 Dear Dad & Mom: Here comes the first of these dehydrated letters we are urged to write with the assurance they will get to you in much less time. Hope they will for I hate to address them, seems like it takes longer than writing a whole letter. The mail coming from me seems to bunch up for in a couple of your recent letters you spoke of getting two & three letters at a time and I know I don't write that regularly I'm ashamed to say. Golly it's been cold in Iowa hasn't it? You see how lucky I am to be spending the winter in what I've heard termed "sunny Italy" they must have had a wonderful Chamber of Commerce when that phrase was coined or the weather is like California, very unusual It hasn't been very cold tho and we have a good warm tent to stay in. I have plenty of stationery for a long time but I will write for some in case I run out. This stuff is always available at the service club or is if a fellow gets there first. There are still Christmas cards and packages dribbling in, I certainly have had a lot of cards and from people I never dreamed would think of me. Tonights mail didn't amount to much, only a few letters for the whole squadron and I wasn't one of the lucky ones. The slight cold I had a few days ago had disappeared and I feel fine again guess the dope I got from the dispensary was okay.
