Saving...
January 28, 1945 Dear Dad & Mom: Today hasn't been too busy, found time to put up a new clothes line to air our blankets and several other putter jobs. Had a tent inspection this morning so our nut is cleaner than usual altho we don't keep ours so badly. Out tile floow is easy to mop all it requires is elbow grease on the mop handle. Did some work on our engine hoist this afternoon replaced some worn bolts and generally tightened it up. Got a V-mail from you (the sixteenth) and one from Uncle Raymond which didn't come thru quite as fast. Sorry to hear about Dave smashing his car up but glad no one was hurt. I put in a big day writing yesterday wrote eight letters but I am still not caught up. I wonder if Allen Ballards address has changed I have one I got early this summer, if it has send it to me and I'll see if I can locate him. I wish you folks were spending the winter in Florida this season but I expect without a car it wouldn't be much fun. Golly this month is almost gone can't realize its nearly over, at least the end of the month has it's bright spot, pay day. I don't know why everyone is so glad to get paid for there is no place to spend it but nevertheless its a big day. Say Mom would you send me a couple of bars of Packers tar soap, a nail brush and a fine tooth comb not a pocket comb but one to go in my toilet kit for mines about shot. Love Johnny
