February 11, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Seems as tho every time I sit down to write a letter my mind goes entirely blank and I just sit and stare at the paper. I'll bet my letters are like carbon copies, for there seems to be only mail call, what we've had to eat, etc to write about. Some guys can sit down and fill pages with out saying anything but I don't seem to be able to. Got a letter tonight written January sixth with one of Bobs enclosed in it. No matter how old they are I do enjoy them and I do appreciate your writing so regularly. was glad to hear my allotment got there okay, good service when it only takes five or six days. I'm glad I had it made out for when I send money from here it takes five or six weeks. It's been a dull gloomy day, haven't been too busy, just kind of tinkered around. It's better to keep busy but wish it might be at home for I can think of lots of things I'd like to be doing. We are having a uniform and tent inspection tomorrow so everything must be spic & span. I haven't been in my class A's since we got that presidential citation so expect mine are plenty wrinkled. Oh well if they don't like mine I'll no doubt hear about it.
