Saving...
February 6, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: This will be a short letter for it's written by candle light, our light wire is broken again, reckon someone ran over it with the tractor or perhaps a truck. Got an air mail from you night before last written the twenty second. That's the most recent one I've had. No mail at all last night but I'm hoping for some tonight for there is supposed to be a lot. We have a visitor tonight the squadron dog Shot gun is paying his respects. He travels around from one tent to another and sleeps wherever he is paying his last call. Sorry Vivian didn't have nicer weather for her visit with Bob and find living quarters so they could be together. So Buck Schroeder doesn't like Sheppard Field any better than I did, I thought perhaps it might be grassed over and not too bad by now. One of the boys just brought the mail and I had five letters so I did well. Three from you, one from Mrs. Lynch & one from (Pincher?). They varied from the ninth to the twenty fourth, but I was happy to get them all. Found out where Spud Ballard is and its not too far from where I am. I'll write to him and maybe we can get together. I was amused at what M. Wetherlee said about her new baby, gosh they are getting a family in a hurry. I'll try and write again tomorrow - Love Johnny
