Saving...
February 21, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Since I've written last I've had five letters from you so I'd better get busy hadn't I? They all came one mail call, four V-mails & an air mail so that night I made up for others when I wasn't lucky enough to get one. Haven't got tonights so I don't know whether I had any or not. Was surprised to find the pencils, popped corn the other night and when I reached in the can for some I discovered a pencil, put it in my pocket and in a bit I dug into another one. Investigated then and found six of them, just enough to go around in our tent. The boys say the advertising is wasted for none of them every expect to buy and lumber or coal in West Union but thanks a lot. That's a shame about Kenny Sohr. I didn't know he ever had any such trouble. It's a good thing he has such a capable wife. Hope they make out okay with the house. Will seem funny around home without John Camp, guess he was one of my first neighborhood playmates. Maybe it will be a good thing for him to get out of the bank, don't believe he was just cut our for a banker. Wonder if the climate in Arizona will help the little
