Saving...
15 February 1945 Dear Dad & Mom: In last nights mail I got the package of pop corn which you sent January fifth, thanks for the gum & candy too. Think we'll pop some tonight & see how it does. Also got the letter telling about Daisy Crowe leaving for the south, that was kind of a surprise at that. Tonight I got a letter from Plegg which I must answer soon for both he & Arlene have written since I have. It's been a grand day, nice to be out & around, not too warm but pleasant. Noticed a bunch of fellows out with a soft ball this afternoon during their spare time, I think they're rushing the season a little but perhaps not. I have to have a dental check up day after tomorrow which is a good thing, haven't had anything checked since Bob looked at them in Naples. This is the first check we've had for a long time and I hope mine are okay. Had a letter from Uncle Ralph yesterday and he gave me the dickens for not writing to him so I'd better do it. evidently he didn't go to Texas as he had planned for awhile. We had a good supper tonight, roast beef and it was well prepared, not like home but not bad. Will sign off for tonight. Love Johnny
