Saving...
February 27, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Another fine day, warm & Pleasant worked all day without a jacket. Yesterday I got a chance to shoot a round of skeet at the gunnery range, enjoyed it but didn't do so hot. Broke only nine our of fifteen but that was better than any of the others did, so I wasn't in such hot competition. Got a new pair of shoes back from salvage today for some I turned about a month ago. They are the new issue, combat boots, have a top piece sewn on which makes them about twelve inches high. Only the off sizes seemed to get them and my nine double E puts me in that class. The leather is wrong side out with the smooth side next to your foot which makes them more comfortable and are supposed to wear better. Had a letter from Garner Hays last night & one from Mae Wetherbee and the Des Moines service edition. Tonight I got a V-mail from you and a couple of Unions. Enjoyed them all. Sent off a lot of laundry today, sure seems like I get dirty but we have good service here, outside of losing quite a lot of stuff they do
