Saving...
February 19, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Another short letter before I turn in for the night. I'm trying out a different pen which I don't believe like too well, the ink seems to flow too fast or something belongs to one of the other fellows who said I could have it I liked it for he didn't. Found time this afternoon for bath, shampoo & shave so feel like a million dollars. Got your letter tonight telling of Aunt Jennies operation sounds quite serious, surely hope she gets along fine. Expect by the time a letter would reach her she would be back home so I'll try and write to her there. Went to the show this evening for the first time in months, was so crowded couldn't see much and the show was mediochre. Don't think I'll go again for a long while. The boy's scooter wasn't a success, as yet anyhow the little engine they had doesn't have enough power but maybe they can change the sprocket and gear it down enough to pull it. Washed my wool sweater and heavy wool sox this afternoon and I don't believe they shrunk any which is more than I could say for the laundry when they done it. Well our lights will soon go out and my space is about used up so I'll close for tonight. Love Johnny
