Saving...
May 18, 1945 Germany Dear Helen: Well, I finally made it & I didn't leave the front gate with my 4 (buckle arties?) on, inspite of Francis' threat. And thanks to Pat I still have my foot locker rite with me. We sweated out about a wk in London trying to make it & V.E. day we flew over. It was a gorgeous ride & beautiful day. I'd so wish you were nearby - ooh the walks - This country is simply beautiful. Had the opportunity to visit in Weisbadden on 24 hrs & also have seen the famous stadium in Nuremberg which is huge, going by car has its advantages. By the way, while in London - had cocktails with Bobbi & a cousin of his - they were on their way to the theater. I got to see yellow sands, gay Rosalinda & the movie, Blithe spirit. Also ran into a friend from training days - Must drop a line to Jay - do write me awfully soon - youre correct address etc & when are we going to get together. My love Johnnie Lucy came in on a 72 hr pass & she tho't I had gone on -
