chop a few "Tallman Sweetinge". scoop out the Berries as they were put in, being careful that those put in first are the first taken out so that each may be allowed the same time on the fire. Then put in the chopped apples & boil till done - which must be decided by the taste, but do not allow the pieces tasted to be returned to the Kettle. - after taking out the apples - boil down the juice a little to a "jell" - then pour over the Berries & apples and put into jars covering if opportunity offers before eating. They will keep some time if not eaten, and are very good to eat during the afternoon. Yours ever truly - Barberry - Coda. I omitted to state that you should not put in water in the Kettle with the berries So add no water which please remember.
