-Cake- Plain. Mrs Cleveland 5 cups flour - 3 of sugar - 1 1/2 of butter 1 of milk - 5 eggs - nice for currants. Sunbridge. Mrs. Means. Rub 6 oz butter into 1 Lb flour - add 6 oz sugar - 2 eggs well beaten - make it a thin paste - roll it very thin - cut it with a glass Wash them with the whites of egg and sprinkle sugar over them - excellent. Common. Mrs R. 1 teacup sugar - 1 of molasses - 3 eggs 2 great spoons dissolved saleratus - 1/2 cup milk - 1 greatspoon melted butter. Poor Mans. Mrs. R. 1 1/2 cups sugar - 1/2 of butter - 1 of milk 3 of flour - 2 teaspoons C. tartar - 1 of dry saleratus in milk - nip of salt - 1 egg - flavor to taste - quick oven.
