How to stop Blood. Ed. Take the fine dust of tea or the scrapings of the inside of tanned leather & bind it close upon the wound & the blood will soon cease to flow - after it has ceased apply laudanum. Cobwebs are also excellent. Tooth-ache. Do. Equal quantities of alum & Salt wet a small piece of cotton (or any other man) causing the powder to adhere & placed it in the hollow of the tooth. For a Cough. Steamboats friend Take 1 pt bowl hops to 1 qt water boil it down to a pint - add to this - 1 oz of manna 1 of Black liquorice - 1/2 oz gum arabic, sweeten with Brown sugar or molasses to taste & take a spoonful, when inclined to cough.
