For a pan of Perfume. Aunt Eliza Nye. During the seasen of roses - for the stock or basis or this pufume. I gather quantities of rose leaves giving preference to those having fragrance. Take a glass preserve jar with screw top, holding 2 qts, & gather the blossoms when there is neither dew or rain upon them. Carefully remove the heart & petals from each [strim?] & place them in the jar with nearly twice the quantity of fine table salt. Add from day to day during the rose season or until you have the jar full - or what you want. Keep the jar closely covered, & in a cool dark place for four weeks & shake it every day. Place in the bottom of your ringed jar a layer of the prepared rose leaves or [stock?], or this I sprinkled pounded cloves, cinnamon, allspice mace &
