Saving...
July 15, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: We have a new radio which we are all enjoying, it was placed in the barracks by the special service department. Heard the Lucky Strike Hit Parade and the late war news. Was the first news I'd heard for several days kept far better posted when I was in Italy. Had my breakfast a few minutes ago, bananas bought from a native boy. They were especially nice this morning, half again as big as the ordinary ones. Gosh they would have tasted good with a little thick cream & sugar on them. Still havent been issued our promised sheets, wish they would come thru for the wool is getting plenty itchy down here in this climate. Soft beds are still a luxury however tho I couldnt complain about my bed in Italy. Havent heard from Bill yet but think he must be home on furlough and likely getting married so he's probably too occupied to do much writing. A few of the others have written telling us here how wonderful it is to be home
