Saving...
July 26, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Got your long Sunday letter today, was good to get. Missed writing yesterday for we had a squadron meeting during the time I usually write. Sent out my laundry yesterday and what a lot of it. My stuff that was in my duffel bag smelled musty so I sent nearly everything I own. Will probably have to pay extra for it. Pretty hot this morning, not much breeze stirring and then a guy really feels this heat. Everything I touch I stick to, believe it will rain soon and cool things off. Sure glad you've been getting some growing weather now and I hope there is a long season so the corn makes out okay. Thankful I have the silo so there will be feed. Fellow can always put up snow fence temporary silos too. The fellow who went home to Wisconsin on emergency furlough said things were backward but the country was nice & green. His sister died before he got home. Got the Union last night, seemed a little more in it than usual, enjoyed Dick [Westerfield?] letter.
