Saving...
September 1, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: This has been my day off but I didn't go to town, just loafed around the barracks and day room & read some out of my agriculture book. Has been very warm outside but the barracks were comfortable for there's a nice breeze blowing. It's funny but lots of the fellows are having real bad colds and they seem hard to shake. Everyone goes to sleep with no cover over them & then if it rains and the wind blows they get chilly before they wake up. The hay fever sufferers have a bad time of it too. Had fried steak for dinner and all I could eat, enjoyed it too. Usually when we have steak its cooked in gravy and is little better than stew but the cooks claim it's swiss steak.
