Saving...
So you've already dug out my shirts, that sounds good but it may be awhile before I get to wear them. As usual there are snags and typical army red tape which take time and slows things up. I'm wearing 17-1/2 shirts here so reckon the white ones will be okay. Will sure need some other clothes tho. Yes I've got two pairs of coveralls like Charles [Kaippel?] was wearing around. Sure hate the darn hot things tho. I cant see why the army didnt keep on making the two piece fatigues for a fellow can shed the top half when it's so warm. I think i've gained weight ever since I got down here, even tho I do sweat like a horse. You'll have to put me on your reducing diet when I get back home. I've got to harden up too for now a good days work would lay me low. Dont think I'll buy myself a panama hat, they're from eighteen to twenty five bucks and I know I'd rather have that for other things. Afraid I'd never wear it enough to make it worth while. Suppose there are several places I could be discharged from when the time comes. I think Fort Snelling might be the closest, reckon it might be Jefferson Barracks tho. May be some time so dont be too anxious or concerned. If things work out right it should be this month along toward the last. Every day I sweat out new news about it, at present the schedule which is supposed to be in operation will take about a month to ship out the eligible men. I got a bunch of snap shots today which were taken in town after the Jap surrender was announced. I'll enclose six of them have about sixty
