September 5, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Have just come from the P.X. where I had hamburgers and cake for supper. The darn mess hall had stew again tonight which isnt worth going to unless one is very hungry. Tomorrow we have to turn in some excess equipment, leggins, mess gear, cartridge belt, canteen, one blanket and some other stuff. Glad to get rid of that much junk wish I might ditch some more. Seems like a good sign tho to be cutting down our weight. Guess everyone will fly out of here when we leave. That really makes a quick trip of it and one flight which I'm looking forward to. My laundry came in this evening so have to fold it and put it away and get some ready to go out
