September 8, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Had two nice letters from you today, the one with the clipping about Grant Good and one written the fifth. Sorry I distressed you so about suggesting I might stay in the army. I assure you I was only joking. I think the army is the sorriest place in the world and the last spot I'd care to spend my life. Formed my opinion of it early and it's never changed altho I've tried to see the best side as long as I had to stay in. Werent very busy again today some crews had engines to tear down but we were building one up and they stopped us. Our reserve of engines has been lowered again so will just kind of coast until something happens. Rained very hard again all last night and up until almost noon. I'd
