September 9, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Read a whole book today during working hours so you can see how much work there was to do. Came to the barracks a little early and cleaned up. Hate to sit around the hangar and do nothing. One of the fellows just got in from Tobago with a beautiful case of sunburn. Gosh but he's rosy and very uncomfortable. I'm sorry to hear about your eye injury mom, hope it gets better quick. I know it must be painful, those darn barberry bushes have always irked me. Ole is really taking vacations now that he got started. I too hope Bing will stay by you for a spell even if he isnt much account and touchy.
