Saving...
Monday June 19 1916 Dexter Iowa. My dear Conger: Even though not much has transpired since you went away, you will be glad to have a letter from home to read after starting on your sea voyage. Well we finished the chicken Saturday, as you predicted we would, but it took two meals to do it. And the strawberries kept us busy both Friday and Saturday, eating and preserving It began to rain shortly after we got up Sunday morning and kept it up just long enough to keep me from going to church, but father went and was well paid as he heard a splendid sermon. It cleared away, and was beautiful in the afternoon and evening. We sat in the kitchen by the fire all day. It was so cold. Down to 42 yesterday morning. It seemed that every body was on the go all afternoon and evening. I dont think I ever saw so many autos and buggies going.
