Wednesday, August 23 It has been now a week since we left Liverpool. I feel as if it had been a year. How the time has dragged! The voyage has been very lovely, for one thing. Since we left land we have sighted only three three ships. On the Lafayette we saw that many nearly every day. And the weather has been bad much of the way. It was cold until yesterday - too cold to be comfortable on deck even with an extra coat on. I finally got into a suit of winter underwear to keep warm. Saturday and Sunday we had fairly rough weather. The prow of the ship was shooting skyward, then dipping deep in the waves
