Saving...
March 7, 1945 Italy Dear Dad + Mom: Another nice day and a busy one for me. Have my work pretty well caught up again now and tomorrow I should have some time off again. Hope so far I have same stuff to salvage and I must dig it out of my barracks bag. We send laundry tomorrow also and I have to [send?] out my dirty clothes. No mail for a couple of days, dont think there has been over twenty letters in our whole section during the past three days. Thats a sign we can look for a lot in the near future. Haven't had a "Stars + Stripes" for days they dont come in as early as they used to and when I came from chow at night they havent arrived. Often get one a couple of days old but dont keep up on the news too well. Had to tighten up my bed again today the ropes stretch and let it sag if I dont keep them tightened. If I do it makes a good bed, would hate to go back to sleeping on the ground after such luxury. Seems like every time I start to write somebody drops by and I visit instead of concentrateing on what I'm writing. There is always something to talk about but nothing to write.
