Saving...
March 5, 1945 Italy Dear Dad and Mom: Was lucky tonight had three V-mails from you, seems to take them a good two weeks to reach me. Was [illegible] to have them and they were real newsy. You've sure had lots of rough weather this season hope it ends soon. Found time today to clean up, had a real leisurely bath in our tub, shampoo + shave so feel like a million. That half barrel has really served its purpose well, when summer comes I expect I'll [illegible] it and use the shower but then the winter it is fine. Had to get a couple of shots today just routine ones but they make a fellows arm sore for a day or so. Must have had a gallon of [illegible] shot into me during the time I've been in the army. It's funny but I've never had another vaccination take since that one King gave me when I was a kid. Read a book each night "My Sister Eileen" and found it rather funny. Most everyone has about run out of reading in our tent guess we'll have to get out and do some trading around. There are still a lot of Christmas books floating around the area someplace I'm sure. What's the [perfect?] for the building season Dad, can you get material this year? Seems as tho some of the government needs might be [illegible] for lumber and building materials. Love Johnny
