March 18, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Have a few minutes this evening so will try & catch up for the days I've missed. The past week I've been trying to do two jobs. Bill is at rest camp and he is the night line chief so I've been helping out there and doing my own job daytimes. It hasnt been too bad but kept all my spare time used up. He comes back tomorrow so will try and write a bit more often. It's been a disagreeable day, a raw wind and spit a bit of rain. Worked out all day building up engines, which I like, if there is anything about an airplane I like. We had to turn in our blouses and were issued new battle jackets I guess they call them that. Luckily I got one that fits pretty well at least better than my blouse ever did. The jacket is a tight fitting light weight wool with a belt around the middle, made about the same style as that Hudson Bay lumber jacket I have at home. Im writing this in the tech supply building where there is a good light and I can be found if they want me for anything. They have a radio and we just heard Jack Benny. I have gotten out of the habit of listening to the radio, but
