Saving...
April 28, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: It's a dark dreary day, raining, so I dont have to work. Got soaked this morning but changed to dry things and am going to try and write a few long neglected letters this afternoon. Our tent leaked like a sieve until it got soaked up, we had raincoats, towels, jackets and every thing else over the beds. I visited some of my old friends in another group last night and was very glad to see them, its been well over a year. Exchanged notes as to the whereabouts of the rest of the old bunch and find they are really scattered around this old world. The radio is going full blast with some [cornboy?] program, cant keep my mind one what I'm writing. Also there are about six guys in here talking at the top of their lungs. Glad Vivian & Dickey got moved in their new apartment, hope they like it. Expect Dickey will miss his grandparents & Uncle Harold but it will probably be good for him to not have so many bosses. Mae Wetherlee wrote in her last letter that he wanted to come out there and spend the summer. My flowers should come up fast now that they've had a good soaking. I'm anxious to see if they will grow but hope I'm not here to see them bloom. I'm afraid the ground wont soak up enough to spade up a garden but I'll see. Sent in all my wool clothes to the dry cleaners the other day so I couldnt go on
