Saving...
The people were all arrayed in their finest the bright blues, pinks & yellows which are so popular down south seemed to prevail. Must say they were clean tho where clothes were white they were dazzling white (maybe by contrast) shirts & dresses were starched and pressed far better than Mrs. MaElue used to do. Some of the cutest little dusky kids you ever saw, big brown eyes and little pigtails, they were seeing everything too you can bet. Just took some clothes to the tailors to be altered, two pairs of pants to be cut off and taken up around the middle and a pair of coveralls which had to have the sleeves & legs cut off and a couple of pockets sewed on. I never seem to have pockets enough and these darn new style coveralls just have one hip pocket and two patch pockets in front. Boy how I hate to wear these darn coveralls, especially down here when it is so hot. Sorry you folks missed your picnic breakfast in the pasture, maybe next Sunday will be nicer and the road fixed up again. Sounds like Ted was putting in lots of time out at the farm there's always plenty to do thats sure. We have a meeting this afternoon concerning the rotation plan, but Im afraid it wont concern me for I've under twenty four months in overseas. Perhaps tho there will be furloughs later on for us rookies. Love Johnny
